Hi all, the blog has suffered over the weeks, sorry about that, it is a lot of work putting a radio station together.
Firstly I would like to offer my condolences to the family of Gerry Ryan, as a father I cannot imagine this situation, as a human being I think anyone passing away at this age is a really hard thing to understand. Rarely does a huge talent make such an impact on a nation, this was the case with Gerry Ryan. The best description of Gerry I heard was from another institution, Joe Duffy, who described him as "bold, in every sense of the word". Anyone who can survive in the radio environment for 22 years on the same show and still claim a big audience deserves a lot of credit, RIP Gerry.
Besides the sad news, I am delighted that we have Carol Dooley on board as our Programme Director, she has great experience in the US in Washington at KISM, she is going to make a real difference.
Jeff O brien is our on air consultant, he has worked at some of Europe's top major market radio station's including Radio 2000 Ltd (98FM).
We are in the final stages of getting our radio HQ, in a few weeks this will become a reality and we can really move things on (and I will get somewhere to put all the files and paperwork - my bag is really heavy)
Finally I will be announcing our Sales Director in the next 7 days, we have landed a huge talent, in a challenging market place you need big hitters...we have one of thise!
Interesting times....!!
